Dr. Ashok Sinha (Chair, IISc AANA)
Ashok Sinha joined the IISc in 1962 and earned his B. E. (with distinction) in Metallurgy in 1964. He continued his further studies including research in physical metallurgy at Oxford University, which led to a D. Phil degree in 1966. His contributions since then have been in the areas of solid state physics at Cal Tech, in semiconductor process technology at Bell Labs for 20 yrs, and in semiconductor process equipment technology business at Applied Materials for 15 yrs, from where he retired as a Senior Vice President in 2006. He has been associated with the semiconductor industry for over 35 years and serves as a board member on several companies and corporations, including The Tech Museum of Innovation, San Jose, CA.
Prof. Ramakrishna Akella (Co-Chair, IISc AANA)
Prof. Ram Akella is currently Professor and Director of Information Systems and Technology Management, at the University of California Santa Cruz, Silicon Valley Center. He joined the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University in 1985 and also taught at Stanford and University of California, Berkeley. Professor Akella completed his B.S. in Electronics at IIT Madras in 1976 and Ph.D. in Systems/EECS at IISc in 1982.
Dr. Yashraj Bhatanagar
Dr. Yashraj Bhatnagar came to IISc in 1983 from B.I.T.S. Pilani to join the MTech Program in Solid State Physics, completing his degree in 1985. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, England, in 1990. He has since worked at GEC (UK), University of Vigo (Spain), and the University of Waterloo (Canada). Currently, he is a Senior Manager with Applied Materials in Santa Clara, California.
Dr. Subba Rao Gunupudi
Dr. Subba Rao Gunupudi, Ph.D., is CEO of CALALPTECH, Mountain View, California. He is also founder and President of Dx-Sys, Inc., Palo Alto, CA. He is an Adjunct Professor at Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research, Ambala, India. Formerly, he was Vice President of R & D at ChemTrak, Sunnyvale, CA. He was also an Executive Mentor in Bay Area Regional Technology Alliance (BARTA).He received his Ph. D. in Biochemistry from IISc in 1975.
Dr. Murthy Gudipati (Ex-Chair, IISc SV)
Dr. Murthy Gudipati is a Principal Scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, CalTech, and a faculty member at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. Before moving back to the U. S. in 2001, Murthy taught for over a decade at the University of Cologne, Germany, where he received Habilitation (tenure) in 1998. Murthy obtained his Ph. D. from the Indian Institute of Science in 1987 and his M. Sc. in 1981 from the Central University of Hyderabad, India.
Dr. Arkal Shenoy
Dr. Arkal joined IISc in 1964 and earned his M.E. (Mechanical) in 1966. He joined the Nuclear Engineering program at Georgia Institute of Technology and was awarded a Ph.D. He is currently director of Gas Cooled Nuclear Reactor Programs at General Atomics, San Diego, USA. He has over thirty-five years of professional experience in management, design, development, and operation of nuclear power projects. He is member of several professional organizations including Sigma XI, American Nuclear Society, and American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Gopi Mamidipudi
Gopi Mamidipudi, alias M. Gopikrishna, joined IISc in 1978 and earned his B. E. (ECE) in 1982 and M. E. (School of Automation) in 1985. Gopi worked for CMC Ltd. in Delhi on the Railway Reservation System and moved to New Zealand in 1987. Since 1989, he has been a "serial" entrepreneur and is currently involved in two businesses—a software consulting firm and an online education company for K-12 students, HighPoints Learning Inc. Gopi is also one of the founders of the IISc Alumni in the Bay Area, in 1999, along with Anita, Animesh and others.
